Plot: Into the breach! Anarchists against Franco. A documentary profile of the life of Octavio Alberola, the man who played a pivotal role in the clandestine anarchist (CNT, FIJL, Defensa Interior, First of May Group, etc.) struggle against Franco, Francoism and its heritors from 1961 to the late 1970s — and beyond. Octavio Alberola Suriñach was born on March 4, 1928 in Alaior (Menorca, Balearic Islands). Son of rationalist teachers and libertarian militants José Alberola Navarro (murdered by a Mexico City police death squad on 1 May 1967), Aragonese teacher and Education Secretary to the Council of Aragon during the revolution of 1936-1937, and Carmen Suriñach. In 1939 he went into exile in Mexico with his family where he studied civil engineering in Mexico City and played a prominent role in the Libertarian Youth organisation and in the Cuban anti-Batista Movimiento de 26 de Julio and the "Movimiento Español 59" (ME / 59), preparing guerrilla actions with Juan García Oliver. From 1962 to 1965 he lived clandestinely in France coordinating the CNT’s secret Defensa Interior actions against Franco and the Franco regime, and subsequently in the anarchist action groups such as the Grupo Primero de Mayo (First of May Group) until after the dictator’s death.
